Objectives

The academic objective of this trip is to expose the students to state of the art designs in buildings and cities by having them meet with award winning experts .

Students will have the opportunity to tour buildings that have won global architectural awards and then personally meet with the architects and structural engineers involved.

Their experience will not only focus on individual buildings, but also on urban renewal – visiting large renewal projects in downtown Toronto as well as a smart city being built from the ground up.

The trip will enable the students to meet with leaders in a variety of professions helping provide further clarity on their career goals.

After the trip, students will have the contacts and insights to help shape their education decisions and create interesting career opportunities.

See the future

Meet with award-winning architects and structural engineers. Tour their properties to learn about the vision and challenges in creating masterpieces that combine art and utility.

Meet with developers and designers of entire masterplans and tour the redevelopment of two different areas of Toronto – a downtown urban renewal and a billion dollar smart city within a city being created as a partnership between Alphabet and the city of Toronto.

Finally meet with some of the project managers that deal with all the logistical issues involved in the actual building of complex structures.
